About us

Our Charters

Community development projects at Long My (Hau Giang province, Mekong Delta, Vietnam) were implemented in 2005 by Mekong Plus (formerly Vietnam Plus). The project aims to help households in poverty improve their economic situation and standard of life. In 2008, Anh Duong Community Development and Support Center (Anh Duong Center) took over Mekong Plus’s mission.

Anh Duong Center is a local non-profit-organization, implementing the community development projects on the ground. Currently, we carry out the projects in 16 communes of Can Tho City with around 113,971 households.

We, at Anh Duong Center, adhere to the highest ethical standards, and aim at high performance and efficiency:

Our mission, vision and values

Mission:

We eliminate poverty through a participatory and collaborative approach in which poor and marginalized people and communities are at the center of tackling the most significant development challenges in Hau Giang, Mekong Delta, Vietnam.

Vision:

We envision a future where people living in villages in Hau Giang have all the resources needed to make a good life for themselves and build healthy, resilient, and vibrant communities.

Values:

We believe in people. By engaging in a participatory and collaborative approach, we find effective human-centered solutions to some of the most pressing challenges of development.

We aim to help people gain the knowledge and skills to develop their livelihood model themselves to increase income and get a better life for themselves and their families.

Our team

We are all Vietnamese born and have backgrounds in agriculture, aquaculture, health, micro loans and/or social work. This diversity allows us to undertake a wide variety of valuable projects to meet the needs that are identified in each community. Our staff are highly motivated to help the poor through sustainable development and self help programs. Anh Duong Center has 13 staff and 50 village workers who are employed part time; they live and work in the villages. They are able to mobilize the community to work for the people and the extreme poor.

Projects:

We actively engaged in five community support programs:

  1. Micro Credit Program
  2. Education and Training Program
  3. Environmental Initiatives Program
  4. Infrastructure Development for Local Community Program
  5. Job Creation for Women Program

After 21 years, Anh Duong Center has helped thousands of households escaped poverty and improve their lives. We have helped students go to school, created jobs for woman in rural areas, improve awareness of environmental protections, supported schools implement dental programs and healthcare for children, improved awareness of gender and equality to help eliminate family abuse.

Our ambition is that poverty will be destroyed in our project areas. We try our best every day to implement the projects of community development.

Thank you for your interest in making a difference today. We currently support 2,632 households with loans to build stable livelihoods, and this can only continue with the remarkable aid we receive from dedicated individuals and organizations.
